Leather bag with painted decoration

A leather bag whose flap carries a painted arabesque decoration, still legible.

Moroccan leather is tanned by old vegetable processes, then worked in Fez and Marrakech. Nomads' bags and gourd flasks were objects of daily use: their patina, their repaired stitching and their marks of wear tell of years of service.

Antique piece sold as seen. The leather may be stiff and marked; a nourishing treatment restores its suppleness.
